We so often get it backwards. Our world treats leadership roles as a dictatorship. The one in charge, the boss, the leader of the country, the leader of the team (whatever it may be) so often views their role in a very dictatorial fashion. On the contrary, the greatest leaders realize their primary responsibility is not to be bossy and push people around in order to get what they want, but rather leaders are meant to serve for the common good of the people.
Great leaders serve their people first and foremost. Acting as a great leader is actually self-less, not selfish.
Great leaders understand just how much of an honor it is to be chosen as a leader and they do not take it for granted or let it go to their head. Great leaders work hard to achieve the best possible outcome for the greater good.
In serving others, these leaders teach those surrounding them how to serve as well. We learn best by example. We are a people of service and we should all try harder (especially our leaders) to serve one another. This sort of action is where positive results come from.
